So, those of us born before 1982 will remember a specific move Fonzi would use to get the jukebox working, the Fonzi smack. You can see it at the end of this (awesome) video.
Now, the Fonzi smack wasn’t just for the Fonz. It was a real move that a lot of us used, not for the jukebox, but for the awesome TVs we had in the 70s and 80s. When our TV’s vertical hold would get “off” at our house, we’d hit it in just the right location on the top right of the box and…viola…everything cleared up. Sometimes it would take 2 or 3 smacks, but it generally worked.
I noticed today that it’s back. On my modern devices–the iPad, iPod and smartphone–sometimes when I change orientations from portrait to landscape or vice versa, the device sometimes doesn’t notice. Perhaps I’ve just been a little too gentle for the accelerometer inside. So, I simply give it a little tap and…voila…the orientation changes. Ayyy!
Long live Fonzi!
